I said before that most of the people don’t reckon that the internet is a veritable working space, most of them don’t see it to be one at all. Here is where they are incorrect and where you shouldn’t be because if you make the mistake of thinking of the internet as a playground or take it as a joke you will most certainly not succeed in this job.In this job you will be your own boss, yeah I know that is fantastic , but don’t get your hopes up because of this you will have to plot all your work and most of all make sure that it will be done on time because if it’s not you will have to pay for it. I know it sound weird “paying for it” but most of the time this is the case because in business time really is money and for every second you waste loosing time you will loose money too.You will only have to work hard in the beginning but after you get the hang of it and you know how it’s done it will be a piece of cake.So I will tell you only once take this job sincerely or else you won’t be able do succeed at it and to benefit from all the fantastic rewords it can result in you.

Basically it’s a quality versus quantity issue, and your scale will likely be based on two things; the practicalities involved, i.e. whether you have the knowledge and skills required for the former, and your personality.

If your desire is to build a business around your chosen niche, rising your own product or building up a membership site for example, the former is probably the best way to go. You’ll benefit from the in depth knowledge you have of the subject, and if it’s a leisure activity or passion of yours you will probably delight in the time spent on it, or at the very least will be far less likely to tire of it, and whether it’s leisure activity or profession you’ll have plenty of knowledge to impart and resources to call on.

This, though, is where personality kicks in. Can you impart that knowledge to your patrons? Can you write well? Sales copy, articles, blog posts, newsletters, books etc. all have to be written by someone, and if that’s not you it will have to be outsourced. Whilst that is an option that can work very well, it tends to be surpass suited to quantity than quality….

If, on the other hand, your goal is to build a business based on having lots of sites, built quickly to what is commonly called the “rinse and repeat” model, then the latter approach is probably more apt. You are unlikely to have ample different leisure activities or professions to build the digit of sites required, and although you may be able to launch two or three on that basis you will be extremely unlikely to reach the dual and even treble figures that marketers with this business model typically build.

A further danger is that it is all too simple to get “involved” in sites about subjects that you are passionate about, or which you have a fantastic deal of knowledge of. No “off the shelf” articles for you – other peoples material will likely not be up to the standard you will set, and you will find yourself writing or re-writing everything before publishing. Again this makes it hard to churn out the volume required by the “rinse and repeat” model.

In summary – play to your strengths and do what appeals to you. If you have the leisure activity or profession on which you can base a site, especially if it’s coupled with a talent for communication, (not necessarily writing – audio and video are huge now) then go for that. If not, stick a pin in a list, churn it out, and go on!

When it comes to Search Engine Optimization there are many paths to follow. In this small article we will look at the web as a forest, where sites are plants and links are branches.

On those branches grow leaves aka “content”. And like the words, pictures and layout of a webpage every leave has nerves, colour, texture. In midwinter there’s no trace left of the fresh spring green, the lush colours of summer, the weary fall.

No such thing in Google. The recycling process in Google is not based on the earths’ circumvention of the sun but on fierce competetion. Keep in mind Google does not really carry an image of the web. Rather, it’s a pool of pointers to location. Both pointer and location are real, in that they are really represented by corporal bits somewhere on a server. In contrast, the relation between pointer and location – the thing that points and the thing that is pointed to – does not exist in corporal space. Their relation is an thought, something that exists only in our mind.

No single bit in the whole wide world carries its meaning in itself. It is us, humans, that bestow meaning upon them.

Withous us, there would be no meaning in the world, no reason, no cause and effect. The pool of pointers that makes up Google’s Index has no inherent structure, it is just a pool (like a pile of leaves), not a logic. But it is not a random pool. Google’s spiders follow a precise set of instructions, genetically engineered or not, when they set out to crawl through the forest. Now, what exactly are those instructions? If only the creature mind can turn raw data into information then how does the spider know what it must collect? The answer to this lies buried deep in Google’s wisely kept secret page crawling algorithm and its subsequent processing by the even more mysterious Page Ranking process. That’s why SEO is much more then finding the ‘right keyword’. It’s about that most elusive of dreams, ‘meaning’.
